  • Volunteers needed for the St. Anne's Youth Ministry :  St. Anne's is in the process of starting up a Youth Ministry Program and have a great need for some caring, dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers!  The mission of this ministry will be to provide opportunities for the youth of St. Anne's parish to grow in their faith and closer in fellowship through activities like religious education classes, weekend retreats, service events, and praise & worship nights.  If you are interested in being part of this exciting process in any capacity, contact Emily Bryant at ebryant@saintanne.org

5/17/12 Heroes in a Half Shell; Turtle Power! 8-10 PM. 5/18/12 Dinner & A Movie “The Avengers”: 7 PM. 5/19/12 Volunteer at Casa Juan Diego: 9am-12pm We are looking for about 10-12 volunteers to join us at the Houston Catholic Worker House, Casa Juan Diego (4818 Rose), which serves immigrants, refugees, and the economically poor. We will be helping out in the community garden planting vegetables that the CJD community will enjoy once harvested. Dress comfortably keeping in mind that we'll be outdoors and getting our hands dirty for the morning. No need to bring your own tools, but you may want to bring gloves if you have them. You will also want to bring a water bottle. After all that hard work, stick around and join us for lunch around the corner at a nearby eatery. 5/19/12 SAYA Hiking Trip: Brazos Bend State Park: 9:30 AM. Brazos Bend is one of the best places to view wildlife in the Houston area.  This park is especially famous for its alligators.  The gator mating season will be in full swing, so we’ll almost certainly see a few!  On Saturday (May 19th), we’ll meet at St. Anne’s in the back parking lot at 9:30 AM.  From there we will carpool to Brazos Bend.  We’ll hike for about 3 hours through the forest and around the lakes.  Afterwards, some of us will go out for lunch.  Don’t forget to bring some sunscreen, bug spray, and a pair of comfortable shoes.  Pets are allowed on a leash that is less than six feet long.  For more information, please contact Steven Orlikowski at 281-989-5598.

 

5/20, 5/27, 6/3/2012 CARE Team Taxi: The CARE team at St. Anne's is looking for a volunteer to provide a ride to mass for a woman with Parkinson's.  She will need a ride for the next three Sundays.  She lives in the area of Buffalo Speedway and 59 and usually goes to St. Cecilia or St. Anne. For more information, contact Tom Speier at tespeier@comcast.net.  

 

5/20/12 Meet, Greet, and Eat: 12:15 PM. 5/20/12 Goodly Booke Bible Study Outdoors: 6-8 pm.  St. Anne's front lawn.  Come enjoy some fresh air with the Goodly Booke.  We will read Chapter 5 of St. Luke's Gospel and share a potluck picnic dinner.  Please contact Nathan Ang @ vna@thinkpost.net with any questions.

 

5/21/12 CityCentre Running Club: 5:30PM Are you interested in getting a great workout in while socializing with friends?  Then you may be interested in attending CityCentre Running Club.  CityCentre Running Club hosts a weekly 5K fun run on the West side of Houston (every Monday), followed by a complimentary buffet on the spacious patio at Ruggles Green/Texans Grille. An offshoot of BON Running Club, CityCentre Running Club provides a unique opportunity for Houstonian runners of all levels to meet, socialize, and get in a workout in a casual, fun setting. 5/26/2012 VIRTUS training @ St. Jerome: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM  (St. Jerome Church, 8825 Kempwood Dr, Houston)  If you would like to volunteer with children/youth in any capacity through any Catholic Church, it is a requirement to attend a VIRTUS training.  Here is an opportunity for an upcoming training for anyone interested.  This is a 3-hour session called "Protecting God's Children" that you only need to take one time. The class will be held in the Fr. St. Anne's Cantors Needed:  We are in need of a few people to volunteer for the role of Cantor at our weekend Masses. The only requirement is a desire to make a commitment to animate the sung worship of our parish community.  If you have a good, clear singing and speaking voice and are willing to respond to a call to this vital liturgical ministry, please contact Jim Ross, Music Director: jross@saintanne.org.

Volunteers needed for the St. Anne's CARE Team:  The St. Anne's CARE Team assists fellow parishioners during times of illness or burden--offering a "hand-up" to those in need through visits, listening, help with everyday household tasks, rides to Mass, medical and dental appointments, and grocery shopping. If you have been looking for a way to get connected with another ministry in the parish, this is a great ministry to get involved in.  Contact Thomas Speier tespeier@comcast.net for further information.
