Effective Wednesday, 16 August 2017, we have installed traffic arms at the campus access points on Fairview Street and Westheimer Road to restrict vehicular access to our campus from those streets except during weekend Mass times. The traffic arms will be open between 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings.
Because of the location of our campus at the busy intersection of Westheimer and Shepherd Drive, we experience large volumes of vehicular traffic that cut across our parking lots via both Westheimer and Fairview streets to avoid the traffic lights. This creates a safety concern for our employees and parishioners, but an even greater concern for the students at St. Anne Catholic School.
On a daily basis, classrooms of children must walk across our parking lots as they travel between the school building to our gymnasium. Unlike our normal campus visitors that slowly drive through our lots to find a parking space, the drivers cutting through our campus to avoid the traffic light are often driving at fast speeds, distracted by a host of different factors, and are usually unaware that children are frequently walking between the school and the gym.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but the safety of our students is paramount.
